I joined the PCT in August 2009 as the Primary Care Medical Educator responsible for Continuing Professional Development.
My role encompasses developing and sustaining a programme of continuing professional development, linking in with many professions within primary care. I also have a role in the GPST training programme, mainly towards the end as the transition into working life is approached. I am hoping to work with the Deanery and GPST programme to look at furthering e-learning in Bury.
My role is challenging but interesting and I enjoy working with the local GPs and other members of the primary healthcare team to look at ways to keep education relevant, enjoyable and to improve patient care in our area
I started in post as the GP Specialty Training Co-ordinator, in September 2009.
A new and exciting post developed in partnership with the NE sector. I am responsible for the co-ordination of training placements for several Trusts and will work with GP practices to increase training resources and placement capacity.
Working across the Pennine Health Economy, I will undertake development work on Modernising Medical Careers Programme. This entails working with the PCTs, North West Deanery, GP Educators and the Acute Trust to develop the concepts of multidisciplinary learning and to effectively match GP trainees to placements.
I am looking forward to the challenge of increasing capacity within the Pennine programme and offering a diverse training programme for all new GPSTs.
